The First Healthcare Category Express Entry Draw of 2024 Invites 3,500 Candidates

Canada invited 3,500 candidates in the first Express Entry draw of the year for healthcare occupations on February 14, 2024.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a general Express Entry draw on February 13, inviting 1,490 candidates with a minimum CRS score requirement of 535 points. IRCC held another round for healthcare occupations under Express Entry the next day.

The latest category-based Express Entry draw targeting healthcare occupations invited 3,500 candidates, having a minimum score of 422 CRS points, to apply for permanent residence.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) had consultations with immigration researchers, employers, and provincial governments to select categories for Express Entry selection in the last year. IRCC announced six new categories targeting five occupations:

  • Healthcare
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM)
  • Trades
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and agri-food

The sixth category for Express Entry draws focuses on selecting candidates with strong French language skills.

The year’s first category-based Express Entry draw was on February 1, inviting 7,000 candidates with French language skills. The Francophone category-based Express Entry selection round is the biggest invitation round of 2024. It selected candidates with active Express Entry profiles and strong French language proficiency with a CRS score cut-off of 365 points.
