Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia announced the details of study permit quotas to welcome international students in 2024.

Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia received the allocation for 12,900 study permits from the federal government for 2024. The current year’s allocation is much less than the previous year. The province is home to nearly 16,000 international students pursuing full-time study programs.

The following is the current year’s study permit allocation:

  • Nova Scotia Community College and universities in the province- 11,565
  • Private career college- 710
  • Language schools- 526

The province will reserve 99 study permit application spaces for unforeseen circumstances. Canada reduced the number of study permit spaces as part of its policy to streamline the number of temporary permit holders.
