The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program issued invitations to apply under its entrepreneur stream to 10 candidates on Jan 27, 2023.
Ontario conducted An Entrepreneur Stream draw on January 27, under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The CRS scores ranged between 137 and 162. The draw considered Expressions of Interest received till January 20, 2023, for selecting candidates in the draw.
The province of Ontario operates business category nomination through the Entrepreneur Stream of its provincial program. The OINP Entrepreneur Stream targets senior business managers and business owners with relevant experience who plan to live in Ontario. The program mandates immigrant entrepreneurs to take over an existing business or start a new one.
The following are highlights of eligibility requirements:
- Investment – Applicants of the Entrepreneur stream should invest $800,000 within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) or $400,000 outside the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
- Business plan – Applicants should submit a comprehensive business proposal. The business should create a minimum of two full-time jobs for permanent residents or citizens.
- Business experience – A successful business experience of at least five years is necessary.
The invitation-only program of Ontario Entrepreneur Stream expects the applicant to run a business in Ontario for a minimum of 18 months before receiving a nomination for permanent residence. They apply for a provincial nomination by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). Ontario selects candidates with the top scores to issue invitations.
