Ontario Doubles PNP Allocation to Welcome Over 18000 new Immigrants by 2025 through OINP

Ontario received a lift to its PNP allocation, as the province will welcome 16,500 new immigrants in 2023 and over 18,000 in 2025.

For the first time in history, Canada’s federal government is implementing a Multi-Year Allocation plan to bolster provincial immigration. It allows provinces to receive higher allocations for their respective Provincial Nominee Programs. It provides individual provinces with yearly PNP quotas for 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Ontario experiences an acute labor shortage as over 300,000 job positions remain vacant, impacting Ontario’s critical sectors, like healthcare, technology, and trade. The new allocation takes Ontario’s PNP quota from 9,000 in 2021 to over 18,000 by 2025.

It is a notable relief to the province’s job market, as Ontario will have control over selecting PNP candidates to match the in-demand skills. Provincial nominee programs boost skilled immigration to develop the province’s economy and labor force.

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

Ontario operates the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to attract international students, entrepreneurs, and skilled workers to settle in the province.

Eligible candidates can leverage the Express Entry selection management system or Ontario’s Express of Interest system to get a nomination for permanent residency. Candidates can explore Skills Trades, Human Capital Priorities, and French-Speaking Skilled Worker streams to get the nomination through the Express Entry.

Candidates receiving a nomination for permanent residency must apply to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to get approval for their PR status.
