Manitoba Invites 583 Candidates in the Latest PNP Draw

Manitoba boosts provincial immigration by issuing higher number of LAAs in back-to-back draws.

The February 23 Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) draw issued 583 Letters of Advice to Apply to 583 candidates. The invitations targeted three streams of provincial immigration, comprising the International Education stream, Skilled Workers in Manitoba, and Skilled Workers Overseas. The draw had a distinction of including occupation-specific and all-occupation categories under Skilled Workers Manitoba.

Manitoba is increasing the number of LAAs with each subsequent MPNP draw. The last Manitoba Provincial Nominee Draw of February 9 issued invitations to 308 candidates. Another trend to note is the decrease in the minimum scores for each draw.

These are the results of the February 23 Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program draw:

  • International Education Stream – 51 LAAs
  • Skilled Workers Manitoba (Occupation-specific) – 207 LAAs (Minimum score 615)
  • Skilled Workers Manitoba (All-occupations) – 298 LAAs (Minimum score 693)
  • Skilled Worker Overseas – 27 LAAs (Minimum score 721)

Manitoba – a pioneer of provincial immigration

Manitoba pioneered Canada’s provincial nominee program with the 1996 Canada-Manitoba Immigration Act. The act set the stage for the implementation of the new immigration policy and the launching of Canada’s first-ever Provincial Nominee Program.

The first Manitoba PNP welcomed 418 new immigrants through provincial immigration in 1999. Manitoba’s successful provincial immigration encouraged other provinces to launch their provincial nominee programs, taking the number of PNP streams to over 80.
