IRCC Holds the First Express Entry Draw of 2024, Inviting 1,510 Candidates

Canada held the year’s first Express Entry draw on January 10 to issue 1,510 invitations to apply for permanent residency.

The all-program Express Entry round of invitations by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) required a minimum CRS score of 546 and above. The Comprehensive Ranking System score is higher by four points against the last all-program Express Entry draw on December 18, 2023.

All-program Express Entry draws consider all profiles under the three main immigration pathways, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). The general Express Entry draws also target profiles having provincial nominations under the three main immigration categories. The higher CRS scores in recent Express Entry draws underline the need to improve the Express Entry profile with the help of language skills, Canadian education, and provincial nomination. The current Express Entry pool has over 600 1,298 profiles, with CRS scores above 600 points. The high CRS scores may be because of the provincial nomination that adds 600 points to the candidate’s score.
