Global Skills Strategy to Ensure Speedy Processing of Work Permit Applications

The 2 weeks processing time encourages prompt processing of work permit applications through the Global Skills Strategy. 

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada introduced the Global Skills Strategy to help Canadian employers get top talent to fill positions faster.

Aspiring immigrants and Canadian employers can benefit from the Global Skills Strategy. The main highlights of this strategy are:

  • Faster application processing time of two weeks
  • Work permit exemptions
  • Better customer service

Employers can fill up job positions faster because of the Global Skills Strategy. Aspiring candidates eligible for priority processing must meet admissibility and eligibility criteria.

Criteria for workers who are LMIA exempt

  • They should apply from outside Canada through the online system
  • Applying for an employer offer featuring within the Employer Portal
  • Fulfill requirements for job skills Type 0, NOC, or skill level A
  • Paying the Employer Compliance fee

Criteria for workers requiring LMIA

  • They should apply from outside Canada through the online system
  • Positive LMIA approval through the Global Talent Stream (Temporary Foreign Worker Program)

Candidates applying for International Experience Canada are not eligible for the Global Skills Strategy. Applicants of Visitor Visas, Work Permits, And Study Permits, including their spouses and children, can benefit from two-weeks processing times.
