Canada Set To Remove All Travel Restrictions In Connection With COVID-19 From October 22

From October 2022, travelers to Canada need to use the ArriveCan app or show vaccination proof while crossing the Canadian borders.

The recent government announcement confirms there will be no travel restrictions for travelers, irrespective of their citizenship, entering Canada, effective October 1, 2022. The following requirements of COVID-19 restrictions will not be in force from October 1, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).

  • Proof of vaccination
  • Pre-arrival testing
  • Submission of Public Health Information using the ArriveCan app
  • Quarantine or isolation
  • Reporting and monitoring fresh symptoms of COVID-19 after arrival

Using the ArriveCan app will be voluntary from October 1, 2022. There will be no compulsion to wear masks while traveling on trains or flights within Canada. The relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions is because of extensive vaccination and reduced rates of hospitalization and death.

The Canadian government strongly suggests that people should continue using masks in public places despite the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. According to the Canadian health minister, the credit for lifting of COVID-19 restrictions mainly goes to Canadians for their spontaneous response to vaccination.

Over ninety percent of Canadians received vaccination against COVID-19. The mister mentioned that everyone should adopt public health measures, including staying up-to-date with vaccination and booster shots.
