The total number of Indian PR holders between 2013 and 2022 was 19,89,535. In 2022, 59,503 Indian Permanent Residents became Canadian citizens.
Canada is the top destination for most Indian immigrants
Several factors contribute to the notable proportion of Indian citizens preferring Canada as their favorite destination to study, work, and settle. The vibrant Indian middle-class population has the relevant education, language skills, and settlement funds necessary for a Canada visa.
The restrictive immigration policies of the Trump government encouraged many Indians to choose Canada to pursue higher education, work, and permanent residence. Canada implements several immigration-friendly policies, attracting eligible candidates from foreign countries.

India continues to be Canada’s top-sourcing nation for global talent. A third of the total immigrants in 2021 were Indian citizens. International Mobility Program, and the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, helped over 140,000 Indians become Canadian immigrants last year.
