Canada Extends Online Application Facility to Spousal and Common-law Partner Sponsorship Program

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada is speeding up modernization with 100 percent digital applications for the maximum number of immigration programs. These include the Spousal and Common-law Partner Program.

The modernization of the application system aims at improving client service. IRCC is in the process of total digitization of the application submission process, covering inland and outland sponsorship of spouses and common-law partners.

The permanent immigration programs, such as spousal sponsorship, were eligible for online application submission besides paper-based application until September 23, 2022. As per the latest announcement by IRCC, it will only accept online applications for the inland and outland spousal and common-law sponsorship programs.

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) confirm that the 100 percent online application facility is helpful to applicants. They can use their devices to submit applications from anywhere and get immediate confirmation about successful submissions.

IRCC is leveraging the Permanent Residence Portal, active since March 31 to enable immigration aspirants to submit online applications for other programs.

If an applicant cannot use the online application process and requires accommodations, then they must contact the IRCC for an optional submission format. Failure to make a request will cause the returning of the applications in another format.
