Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will begin accepting new applications for the 2024 Caregiver Program from January 1, 2024.
Aspiring immigrants can apply for Home Support Worker Pilot and Home Child Care Provider Pilot programs from 9 AM EST on January 1, 2024. Canada will welcome a maximum of 5,500 new immigrants under the Home Support Worker pilots for the 2024 Caregiver Program. The 2024 Caregiver Pilot program will have two categories: applications to get experience and applications to seek direct approval for Permanent Residence.
Home Support and Home Childcare Provider Pilots are five-year programs enabling eligible applicants to enter Canada and become permanent residents after two years. These pilot programs require applicants to get an LMIA-exempt job offer from families in Canada.
The job offer allows the aspiring caregivers to apply for an occupation-specific work permit to enter Canada. The work permit facilitates them to get relevant work experience, a mandatory eligibility criterion for permanent residence. In-home Child Care Providers must live in an employer’s house caring for the kids. Home Health Aides should provide care for individuals in their employer’s home rather than in an institutional setting.
