Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a consecutive Express Entry draw on December 7, 2023, in the category-based selection rounds.
The new French category Express Entry draw required a minimum CRS score of 470 points or more to receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence. Category-based draws have lower CRS cut-offs than all-program Express Entry draws. The previous Express Entry draw on December 6, 2023, had an all-time high CRS cut-off of 561 points for an all-program Express Entry draw.
Express Entry is Canada’s application management system to streamline and expedite the processing of applications across three main economic immigration pathways. These are the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
The category-based Express Entry draws signify Canada’s focus on the immigration of skilled immigrants with work experience in high-demand occupations and French language proficiency. The category-based Express Entry selection targets these occupations:
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
- Agriculture and Agri-food
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) target these occupations to address historic labor shortages in these sectors. Canada focuses on the immigration of skilled workers to meet labor market shortages. Boost your Canadian immigration journey by leveraging the Express Entry selection process.
