Canada Becomes a Hot Destination for the Global Tech Talent

The latest report by CTN and TECHNA reveals Canada attracted 32,000 Tech industry workers between April 2022 and March 2023.

Canada welcomes thousands of Tech workers with its efforts in designing Tech-centric immigration programs. More Tech workers from Brazil, India, and Nigeria are shifting to Canada as leading Tech giants set up their bases in Canada because of its proximity to the US, transforming the Canadian Tech landscape.

The report by TECNA and CTN highlights the growing adoption of remote working following the COVID-19 pandemic. Global Tech workers are shifting away from conventional tech hubs like the US. There were over 400,000 software programmers in Canada in 2022. The following skills are in high demand:

  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Customer experience
  • Data Science
  • Amazon Web Services
  • Microsoft Azure

Mississauga has the reputation of being home to the second biggest ICT (Information and Communication Technology) cluster in North America. Global Tech organizations like Cognizant, Oracle, Infosys, HCL Technologies, and Microsoft have their bases in the city.

Montreal is emerging as the top hub for over 200 game development studios, besides being a leading center for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information Technology (IT). With over 1,500 Tech businesses, Waterloo is among the world’s top 20 startup ecosystems.

Canada strives to achieve a global Tech leadership position by implementing its Tech Talent Strategy. There are new category-based Express Entry draws for Tech occupations. The latest TECNA and CTN reports prove that Canada’s efforts to promote itself as the most attractive destination for international tech workers are bearing fruits.
