Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) declared its new Temporary Policy to speed up the clearing of the Visitor Visa and Super Visa inventory.
According to the latest figures, the Canadian immigration system struggles to clear 2.25 million visa and immigration applications. There are 1.3 million applications under the Temporary Resident Visa category comprising Visitor Visas, Super Visa, Study Permits, and Work Permits. The visa officers may not determine whether a foreign national intends to leave Canada before the validity of their visa, under the new Temporary Policy by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The new Temporary Policy aims to reduce visa processing times and expedite the clearing of inventory by eliminating the extra burden of assessing the visitor’s intention. The policy will apply to the processing of visitor visas only. It will also permit the visa officer to waive the assessment of financial support to support the applicant’s stay in Canada while processing visitor visas. Financial inadmissibility remains to be a common reason for visitor visa application refusals.
Canada is actively implementing critical measures like removing eligibility requirements like intention to leave and financial admissibility to switch back to pre-pandemic processing timelines. It will help Canada stay competitive from the global immigration perspective.
