British Columbia to Implement Measures for International Students to Improve their Experience

New measures by British Columbia will protect international students from fraudulent practices and improve education standards for better success.

Following a recent announcement to control the influx of new international students, British Columbia declared new initiatives to improve support for overseas students and fix the responsibilities of educational institutions. These measures aim to help international students experience a better quality of education for their success after completing study programs.

British Columbia is implementing a two-year ban on issuing new certifications for education quality assurance. It will prohibit new institutions from enrolling international students from the Designated Learning Institutions.

There will be periodic inspections of private institutions offering post-secondary study programs to ensure they meet higher quality standards. British Columbia expects public institutions to execute strategic plans for international education besides ensuring support services to fulfill students’ requirements.

The private degree programs must abide by stringent organizational standards comprising anti-racism regulations, staff diversity, and housing support for overseas students. British Columbia is implementing several reform measures to safeguard students from fraudulent elements. These will also help address labor market gaps to boost the economy.
