Alberta’s Healthcare Canada Express Entry Draw Sets CRS Minimum at 302

Alberta has turned its focus on healthcare professionals. In a recent draw conducted through the Express Entry-linked stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program, 49 invitations were issued.

During the April 17 draw, the province targeted candidates with job offers through the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, necessitating a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 302 points.

With the fulfillment of its allocation of 9,750 provincial nominations for 2023, Alberta now awaits its allocation for 2024. The allocation is anticipated to surpass 10,000.

High Volume of Applications in Alberta

Alberta is witnessing a surge in applications for the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). The demand is greater for occupations such as food service supervisors, cooks, retail sales supervisors, food counter attendants, kitchen helpers, related support occupations, administrative assistants, transport truck drivers, accounting technicians, bookkeepers, early childhood educators and assistants, and software engineers and designers.

To qualify for a Notification of Interest (NOI) from Alberta, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Maintain an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
  • Express a desire to immigrate to Alberta permanently.
  • Get involved in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification.
  • Achieve a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 points.

Applicants who have a job offer from a local employer or already have work experience in the province are more likely to get approval and receive an NOI. They must be graduating from a Canadian post-secondary institution. Their chances of qualifying can improve if they have a relative residing in Alberta, such as a parent, child, and/or sibling.

They are less likely to get approval if their Express Entry profile expires within the next three months or if they are employed in an occupation not approved by the state.
